The EPFDC is a conference organised by, and aimed at, postgraduate researchers in all fields of fluid dynamics. Participants present their current work with short presentations or posters, and interact with fellow students from all Europe. The previous conferences were held at Birmingham University (2007), Keele University (2008) and Nottingham University (2009), with an increasing number of participants each year.
This fourth edition of the EPFD Conference will be held at ESPCI-ParisTech in Paris, France, from July 3rd to July 7th. The Fluid Mechanics research group at ESPCI (PMMH) is hosting the conference on the ESPCI campus in the center of the "City of Light". Three full days are dedicated to science through plenary lectures, short presentations and posters. The PMMH group will organize a visit of its experimental facilities with live experiments performed by the postgraduate students of the lab. The second day of the conference (Sunday, July 4th) is voluntarily left free to encourage participants to visit Paris together. A Questions/Answers session, will be organised, with the plenary lecturers along with scientists from private companies, discussing various career and science issues with the participants. The objective is to help students get a better perspective of careers in fluid-dynamics science. Please visit our Programme section for more details.
We are very pleased to announce that Prof. Elisabeth Guazzelli (Polytech Marseille), Prof. Howard Stone (Princeton University), Prof. Cord-Christian Rossow (German Aerospace Center) and Dr. François Forget (Université Paris 6) accepted our invitation to give plenary lectures during the conference.
Please download a conference poster for your department.

The EPFDC-2010 edition is sponsored by the European Mechanics Society (EUROMECH), the Laboratory of Physique et Mécanique des Milieux Hétérogenes (PMMH) at ESPCI and the Laboratory of Unité de Mécanique (UME) at ENSTA, Paris. Prizes for the best presentation and poster have been donated by Springer. The organisers are grateful for the generous financial support.
